Are Fitness Influencers Leading You Down a Path Straight to Muscle Building Hell?

Fitness influencers have replaced our old celebrities in the digital era of today. Don't be stunned by their chiseled bodies, rock-hard abs and flawless lives — and just listen to what they have to say. They takeover our Instagram with exercise routines and dietary advice, posting that you can also have the body of your dreams. But is walking in the light verse leading you down a path to even darker days? Is The Fitness Industry Stealing Your Gains and You Might Never Get Them Back?

The Facade of Perfection

When you think about it, fitness influencers have all the answers. Their posts are flawless, they have glowing skin and bulging muscles. They give the impression that it should be easy, like all you have to do is take their diets and supplements they endorse. But truth be told beyond the filters and smear effects, a whole lot of these influencers are not as flawless as they look.

First, a large percentage of influencers are touching up their muscle definition on Photoshop or with light editing tools. Social media is smoke and mirrors. When in reality, you are up against not only genetics and hard work but now an army of editing that makes half the world problematic.

Do Their Workouts Benefit You?

This is one of the biggest threats to following an influencers advice that their routines are generally not personalized but a result of OTS. Workouts posted that appeal to the masses, without knowledge of your individual fitness level, health considerations or goals. What handles for you should not be applicable to others. Worst of all, mindlessly executing their approach may drive you to the point where you overtrain, get hurt or just plain burn out.

Commonly, influencers love to show good results driven by insane fitness challenges that are just reckless; hurting your muscles. Attractive content; but actually this can be fatal routines. THE TAKEAWAY: Without enough rest overtraining will cause chronic fatigue, and strains on your joints that have long-term impacts. It is a downward spiral to eternal anguish, badgering yourself that you need to improve.

The Supplement Trap: Are We Just Buying Snake Oil?

You might have noticed that on the Instagram pages of many fitness influencers, they push a lot of supplements too, from protein powders to pre-workouts and fat burners. They tell their followers these products are the key to their success and many of them follow on blindly. Well, the thing is that influencers usually have to get paid a HUGE amount of money in order to promote these products and not every influencer uses it themselves.

One way they do this is by promoting a sh*ton of crappy supplements that are high in artificial flavours, fillers and MIC (!!) just to name a few…. Rather than enhancing your muscle building capabilities, they could play havoc with your gut and metabolism or even create hormonal imbalances. And some of them can be really harmful. Yet, every influencer smiles in the promo post with one explaining it is their secret to a perfect body.

Unrealistic Expectation of Disappointment

Undoubtedly, the deceptive part about fitness influancers is that they bring with them an extremely great degree of unrealistic expectations. Bodybuilders and fitness professionals seem to do it now, making muscle building appear effortless, rapid and sexy… typically without telling you their results took years of elbow grease or even led worse a performance-enhancing drugs. The shame of failure can be even more crippling for those who take their lead only to not see the same swift results.

If left unchecked, the cycle of self-doubt and disappointment often results in less than healthy behavior: radical diets or obsessive exercise regimens to try and "tone up" because something is missing somewhere above your neckline; or worse still -- turning to dangerous shortcuts like steroids. This picture-perfect lifestyle of the influencer makes it easy for you to be convinced that they are doing it right and everything else is wrong, pulling further from a balanced reality managing exercise fitness in healthier way.

Verdict: Use Your Head Before You Hit Follow

Although fitness influencers seem to have most of the answers, pay attention. Want to know a secret: not all influencers are experts and their advice is NOT one size fits all. Rather than falling into the trap of ignorance, you will learn to research, locate professionals and understand that there is no one-size-fits all muscle-growing plan.
